Dymag, the British wheel company that became famous for making wheels to supply F1 and IndyCar racing teams, is unveiling its new carbon composite wheel at SEMA 2015.

The new wheel comes 20 years after the company first introduced commercial production of carbon composite motorcycle wheels, and over 10 years since it launched the world’s first carbon composite auto wheels safety tested for street use.

Dymag says their carbon auto wheels are typically 40 percent lighter than an equivalent OEM aluminium alloy wheel of the same size, which is part of their effort to deliver greater performance, safety and energy saving,

“All Dymag lightweight carbon composite wheels will be certificated for road use and will be available to be used for racing and track day applications, as well as premium OEM applications, tested to the most extreme loadings in the automotive industry," says Dymag’s Chief Executive Chris Shelley.

The unveiling also comes as Dymag announces the £7.1 million (USD $11 million) in UK government funding, which they say is being used to significantly reduce manufacturing process cycle times and enable high volume production of the very same carbon composite wheels.

“We also plan to establish one or more long term strategic manufacturing partners in the UK and overseas to help continue to scale up and develop the business globally close to our customers,” Shelley concludes.
